Live Call Monitoring FAQs
What teams ask before they put Live Monitor in front of a floor.
1
What is Live Monitor?
Live Monitor is a page in the VoiceOI dashboard that lists every call currently on the line for your organization and updates as calls start, change step and end. Each call shows the phone number, the bot, the campaign, a timer, a status and the current script step. If you are your organization’s admin, you can listen in on a call from your browser, on bots that take calls as VICIdial remote agents, once your bot servers carry the latest update.
2
Can I listen to a live call?
Yes, if you are your organization’s admin and the call comes from a bot that takes calls as a VICIdial remote agent. Listening works once your bot servers carry the latest update, which the VoiceOI team makes. Press Listen on a call and you hear both sides in your browser, about a second behind the call. It is listen-only. You can mute, change the volume and watch live level meters. Calls placed by the built-in dialer show on the list but cannot be listened to.
3
Can I talk to the caller or take over from the bot?
No. Live Monitor is listen-only. There is no whisper, barge-in or take-over, and the page cannot hang up a call, force a transfer or pause a bot.
4
Does Live Monitor show a live transcript?
Not on the Live Monitor page. It shows the call and the script step it is on, not the words being spoken. Each call’s timeline and transcript are kept in Call Logs. Recordings in the dashboard exist only for built-in dialer calls and for Twilio calls that supply one. Calls from VICIdial remote-agent bots keep their recording, if you record them, in VICIdial.
5
Who can use Live Monitor, and is listening logged?
Your organization’s admin can use it, and each organization sees only its own calls. Listening is logged: who listened, to which call and for how long. There is no screen for this log in your dashboard. VoiceOI staff can listen only while logged in as your organization, and that is logged separately.
6
How many people can listen at once?
An organization has 3 listening slots, and one person can use 2 of them. Several people can listen to the same call. A session ends after an hour and can be restarted.
7
Does the caller know someone is listening?
Live Monitor does not play a notice or tone to the caller and has no consent setting. Rules on monitoring and recording differ by location, so you are responsible for any notices or consent that apply where you and the person you call are. This is not legal advice.
8
Does Live Monitor work with VICIdial bots?
Yes. Bots that take calls as VICIdial remote agents run on VoiceOI’s SIP bot servers, and Live Monitor listens on those, for both pre-recorded bots and AI agents. Listening needs bot servers that carry the latest update. The VoiceOI team makes that update. Until your servers have it, you can still see every call on the line.
