VoiceOI
Solar Appointment Setting

Solar AI Appointment Setter.
Qualified Homeowners, Live-Transferred.

VoiceOI works as a solar AI appointment setter for outbound teams: a voice bot calls your solar leads, asks about homeownership, the electric bill, the roof and shade, and live-transfers the homeowners who qualify to your closer, who books the appointment on that call.

How the Solar Appointment Gets Set: On the Live Transfer

VoiceOI doesn't put appointments on a calendar or send text messages. The bot qualifies the homeowner on the phone, then hands the live call to your closer or setter, who books the site visit or consultation while the homeowner is still on the line. Every appointment is booked by a person, in conversation with the homeowner.

If a homeowner asks to be called back, the call ends with a callback disposition, so your team can try again at a better time.

Some AI appointment setters work over text. Setter AI's site says it books meetings directly into Calendly and automates lead response via SMS, and Myna's guide for solar installers describes qualifying roof age, ownership, electric bill and location through SMS conversation. VoiceOI focuses on the phone call and the live transfer.

How AI Solar Cold Calling Works

Outbound calls to solar leads who agreed to be contacted: new web leads, aged leads or re-engagement lists.

  1. 1

    Load consented leads

Upload a CSV list or keep your lists in VICIdial. Filter by state, area code or ZIP to match your service area, then set calling windows and retries.

  2. 2

    Skip the machines

Voicemail greetings and other machines are detected, and the call ends without leaving a message.

  3. 3

    Qualify the homeowner

After your optional AI-voice disclosure, the bot asks about ownership, the monthly bill, roof age and shade.

  4. 4

    Transfer to your closer

Homeowners who qualify are handed over SIP to a closer picked by your routing rules, who books the appointment.

Sample Solar Qualification Script

A recorded-voice fronter script, built in the no-code AI voice agent builder. Text in brackets is a placeholder. The bill and roof-age thresholds are numbers you set in the builder to match your offer.

  1. 1

    Greeting

Bot says“Hi, this is Alex, a virtual assistant calling for [Company] about the solar information you requested. Do you have a quick minute?”

    • Yes: Go to step 2.
    • Call me later: "No problem, we'll try you at a better time." The call ends, logged as a callback.
    • Please don't call me: Do-not-call handling ends the call and records the request.
  2. 2

    Homeownership

Bot says“Thanks. Do you own your home?”

    • Yes, I own it: Go to step 3.
    • I rent: "Thanks for letting me know. Have a good day." Logged NQ.
  3. 3

    Electric bill

Bot says“About how much is your electric bill in a typical month?”

    • At or above your minimum bill: Go to step 4.
    • Below your minimum bill: A polite close, logged NQ.
  4. 4

    Roof age

Bot says“Roughly how old is your roof?”

    • Within your roof-age limit: Go to step 5.
    • Older than your limit: A polite close, logged NQ.
  5. 5

    Shade

Bot says“And does your roof get much shade during the day, from trees or nearby buildings?”

    • Little or none: Go to step 6.
    • Heavy shade: A polite close, logged NQ.
  6. 6

    Transfer line

Bot says“That's everything I need. Please stay on the line while I connect you with a solar specialist who can set up a time to look at your home.”

    • Then: The live call is transferred over SIP to your closer and logged XFER.

This script asks four qualifying questions. The Simple Fronter tiers allow up to 3 questions and the Good Fronter tiers up to 5, so a script this long suits the Good tiers; trim a question to run it on a Simple tier. Tier details are on the VoiceOI pricing page.

Solar Live Transfer: What Your Closer Receives

A solar live transfer hands the call, with the homeowner still on the line, to your closer over SIP. The bot's part ends there: your closer picks up the conversation, answers questions about the system and sets the appointment.

On the Good Fronter tiers (from $35per bot per month), AI-written notes from the call go with the transfer, such as the homeowner's bill and roof answers. Closer routing rules decide who takes each call. The same AI live transfer flow works for any outbound campaign, and the AI fronter for call centers page covers the fronter-to-closer model in more depth.

Solar Lead Calling Controls: Service Area, Timing and Machines

The settings that matter most when you call homeowners across several states.

Service-area filters

Filter the list by state, area code or ZIP before dialing, so bots call only where your installers work.

Homeowner-timezone windows

Set calling hours once and bots dial each homeowner inside them, in that homeowner's timezone, with retries on your schedule.

Machines never reach your closers

Voicemail greetings are detected and the call ends, logged as AM, so a closer is never handed a recording.

Solar Fronter Bots vs Generative AI (LG) Bots: Which Transfers

Fronter bots run your branching script and live-transfer the homeowners who qualify, so they are the bots to pick when a closer should take the call. They start at $25 per bot per month at list price, and the Good Fronter tiers add ZIP checks and notes for the closer.

Generative AI (LG) bots hold freer conversations with a flexible question flow, but they don't include live transfers. If you want that style of call for solar, the Pro LG tiers (from $65per bot per month) can write each call's answers to a Google Sheet, one row per call, for your team to work through afterward. See the Google Sheets integration for how rows are written.

What VoiceOI Does Not Do

  • Book appointments into a calendar or send texts: your closer sets the appointment on the live transfer.
  • Live-transfer from LG bots: transfers come with fronter and closer bots.
  • Hold conversations in languages other than English: calls are English-first.

Solar AI Appointment Setter FAQs

Can AI set solar appointments?

AI can do the qualifying; with VoiceOI, a person sets the appointment. The bot calls the homeowner, asks your questions about ownership, the electric bill, the roof and shade, and live-transfers homeowners who qualify to your closer, who books the appointment on the same call. VoiceOI doesn't book calendar slots itself.

Does it text leads?

No. VoiceOI doesn't send SMS. It works on the phone: it calls, qualifies, and either live-transfers the homeowner or ends the call with a disposition, such as a callback.

What consent do I need?

For telemarketing calls with an AI voice, prior express written consent from each homeowner. The FCC's February 2024 ruling treats AI-generated voices as artificial voices under the TCPA. VoiceOI's disclosure, do-not-call and calling-window controls help, but compliance is yours, so have your counsel review your lead sources.

Can I use my own solar script?

Yes. You build the call flow in the no-code script builder with your own recorded lines and a branch for each kind of answer, then test it in the simulator before it calls real leads. You can start from a marketplace template, or draft a flow from the transcript of a good call.

Does it work with my dialer?

VoiceOI bots can run as VICIdial remote agents with outcomes written back to VICIdial, or dial through any SIP carrier, including Twilio and Telnyx SIP trunks.

How is it priced?

Per bot, prepaid, with one call at a time per bot and no per-minute AI fee; your carrier bills the minutes. Fronter bots, the ones that live-transfer, start at $25 per bot per month at list price, and volume discounts go up to 60%.
